Mended futures for every family.
“Family” is a nuanced concept. Our Family Care team brings simple solutions to complex situations through professional intervention, interpersonal support, and parenting education. We strive for an outcome of mended families so that children can be raised in a safe, healthy environment.
FIVE18 Family Care serves families in a variety of ways. From supporting caregivers to connecting our clients to services or training that will help with recovery, helping them to thrive and encouraging them to become more resilient.
FIVE18 Family Care offers community-based services to any family caring for children through FIVE18 Community Navigators. This expansion mirrors the successful model of Kinship Navigator, utilizing Family Advocates who implement the Teaching Family Model to provide case management, skill-building, and support to caregivers in a community setting. We introduce our client families to the concept of circles of support through hands-on activities that are geared toward growing a family’s circle to increase their resilience.
FIVE18 Family Coaching is available for families referred by and already receiving services from FIVE18 Community Navigators. This internal referral ensures that a family receiving the intensive service provided through in-home coaching is sufficiently supported through their connection with their Family Advocate.
Trained Family Coaches work directly with families to pair in-office, group-based caregiver training (like COSP, TBRI, and TFM skills) with individualized, in-home coaching. This offers a supportive guidance toward positive family transformation in both a holistic and individualized manner.
This core component provides short-term respite and safe care for children while caregivers address a complex struggle. We ensure that families receive safe, temporary care for their children AND holistic support from a network of trained professionals and compassionate volunteers.
A foundational component, family training and development remains integral to the FIVE18 Family Care initiative.
Focused on trauma-informed training, sessions range from single-topic meetings to multi-session series’ for caregiver skill development and strengthening. Attendees can include client families, volunteers, and other professionals serving families and children.
Our goal is to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the challenges of family life, fostering a community that is well-informed, resilient, and supportive.
This program specializes in guiding youth ages of 14 to 21 as they transition to adulthood. Having a mentor available to offer advice and resources during this challenging time in life aligns with our commitment to positive family transformation.
Our commitment to the long-term success of individuals and families continues through the Scholarship Program. Any prior or current clients are eligible to apply for post-secondary scholarships, ensuring access to education. Our scholarship committee recognizes the diverse educational paths individuals may take and is committed to supporting the educational journey of as many adults as possible.
The scholarships include certifications, trade-skill-learning, and various levels of degrees, ensuring that scholarships contribute to the holistic development of individuals in our community.
