Join the mission.

Mended futures for every family.

Meeting families where they are and helping them thrive.

FIVE18 offers family services, care, counseling, and community resources needed to find relief and restore hope.

“Family” is a nuanced concept. Our Family Care team brings simple solutions to complex situations through professional intervention, interpersonal support, and parenting education.  We strive for an outcome of mended families so that children can be raised in a safe, healthy environment.

FIVE18 Family Care serves families in a variety of ways. From supporting caregivers to connecting our clients to services or training that will help with recovery, helping them to thrive and encouraging them to become more resilient.

FIVE18 Family Advocacy

FIVE18 Family Care offers community-based services to any family caring for children through Family Advocacy, our base level service for each family connected to our team. This expansion mirrors the successful model of Kinship Navigator, utilizing Family Advocates who implement the Teaching Family Model to provide case management, skill-building, and support to caregivers in a community setting. Our strengths-based approach is geared toward growing a family’s resilience.

FIVE18 Family Coaching

FIVE18 Family Coaching is available for families referred by and already receiving our Family Advocacy service. This internal referral ensures that every family receiving the intensive service provided through in-home coaching is sufficiently supported through the coordinated care of a Family Coach and their Family Advocate.

Trained Family Coaches work directly with families to pair in-office, group-based caregiver training (like the Teaching Family Model, COSP, and TBRI) with individualized, in-home coaching. This offers a supportive guidance toward positive family transformation in both a holistic and individualized manner.

FIVE18 Expanded Care

This core component provides short-term respite and safe care for children while caregivers address a complex struggle. We ensure that families receive safe, temporary care for their children AND holistic support from a network of trained professionals and compassionate volunteers. Our hostings are voluntary, with no transfer of custody. As short-term, they generally range from 1 to 30 days in length. Our goal is for families to improve resilience through development of lasting, meaningful relationships with their host families.

Training and Development

A foundational component of our services, training and development remains integral to the mission of FIVE18 Family Care. Focused on trauma-informed training, sessions range from single-topic meetings to multi-session series focused on caregiver skill development and strengthening. Some of our training opportunities include Circle of Security Parenting (COSP), Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), and the Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE).

Our goal is to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the challenges of family life, fostering a community that is well-informed, resilient, and supportive. Attendees can include client families, volunteers, vested community members, and other professionals serving families and children.

FIVE18 Transitions Mentoring

Mentors (aged 25+) are paired with youth (aged 14-21), with the goal to foster intentional relationships. Mentors are equipped and supported to become key partners as these youth transition into adulthood. Mentoring is designed to last at least one year, with consistent relationship development through communication and engagement.

FIVE18 Education Support

Our commitment to the long-term success of individuals and families continues through our Educational Support service. Available to all prior and current client families, this service ensures access to education and necessary support to address barriers to educational success. We recognize the diverse paths individuals may take to higher education. Therefore, our scholarships can be applied to certifications, trade-skill-learning, and various levels of degrees, ensuring that our support contributes to the holistic development of individuals in our community. All scholarship recipients receive wraparound educational support through the work of a dedicated Advocate to provide case management and resource connection through the length of their coursework.
